Biking
McDowell Mountain Park hosted approximately 1,500 racers in an Arizona terrain's “true desert course” for NORBA National Mountain Bike Series. The competition gave the participants spectacular views of the Sonoran desert. The racers competed in the stage race, marathon, and Super D. Stage. Riders raced against the clock on an 8.2 mile loop of mostly single-track with short climbs and steep switchbacks. 81-mile marathon over varied terrain, the event challenged riders to a 10-mile ride through fast, sharp corners with single and double-track. 80% of the course was downhill. Extra benefit from this NORBA event went to NOVA Youth Cycling Foundation, and should get more young people into cycling. Plenty of Bike Paths!
