Arts enthusiasts can enjoy a wide variety of dance and theatrical performances, from classical and contemporary to ethnic and experimental.

Arizona Opera Besides opera, Arizona Opera has teamed with the Phoenix Art Museum to present featuring opera-related films. In 2006-2007 season, the program includes: Macbeth, The Marriage of Figaro, Madama Butterfly, Beauty and the Beast,Susannah, Encore! 2007.

Ballet Arizona is pleased to announce a new season of world-class dance. Six truly remarkable productions will grace the stage in 2007/08. The season opens with three full-length, storybook ballets: Giselle, the return of Ib Andersen’s critically acclaimed production of The Nutcracker, followed by the much anticipated production of Don Quixote.

 

The Phoenix Symphony features classical, chamber and pops performances; statewide musical opportunities exist in rock, country and western, bluegrass, jazz and new age concerts and festivals. In the spring of 2007: Michael Feinstein, Los Angeles guitar concert, Beethoven's Seventh,  Peer Gynt, Thursday Classics 16, and Friday Coffee Classics 8.

The Heard Museum is nationally known for its collection of Native American art and artifacts; other museums throughout the state offer special themes and exhibits.

In The Valley of the Sun, you can satisfy your appetite for art just by peering out from your sunglasses now and then. The clean Southwestern architecture and impeccable landscaping impose their own art forms on a flawless blue sky. This perfect backdrop inspired master architects Frank Lloyd Wright, Paolo Soleri and Bennie Gonzales, whose studios and works have helped to create the aesthetic appeal of Scottsdale. The Phoenix architect Will Bruder has created outstanding modern designs, including the Phoenix Central Library and Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art. Will Bruder has also been awarded the new Dial Corp. offices on the corridor of Scottsdale Road.

A favorite of art dealers and collectors, Scottsdale has become known as one of the world's foremost arts communities. Rows of prestigious galleries in the downtown art district showcase the bright, bold designs of contemporary art and sculpture, the subtle hues of the Southwest and the clarity of the classics.

The Scottsdale Symphony, as well as many of the country's top touring entertainers, performs throughout the year in the Scottsdale Center for the Arts. During the warm-weather months, music lovers flock to concerts held outside on the grassy lawn at the east end of the Scottsdale Mall. Gallery exhibitions, the Scottsdale Arts Festival, and the Culinary Festival entertain visitors and residents alike.

Opportunities abound in the Valley of the Sun for cultural enjoyment. In the Southwest, Phoenix has become an important showcase for top-name entertainers, Broadway shows and visiting ballet and opera companies.
